Concerto Rondo (Offenbach, Jacques) not urtext ⟨User:YuriyLcello [#16217]

The files you uploaded for this have definite contributions in the score (and cello part) and is hard to tell what contributions he exactly added which would not qualify as a urtext edition. To be safe otherwise, we will have to delete this. Plus Freed was the arranger of the score and he is still alive everywhere. Which means now the life + 50 rule comes into play.

I think it's making more sense. So if a Henle/Barenreiter edition is completely unmarked (no fingerings and contains only the original slurring/articulation), would that be considered a scientific edition? If it is a scientific edition, would it then need to have been published at least 25 years ago? In the case of Pfitzner Concerto (1888), the cello part was completely unmarked, is it not eligible because the premiere didn't happen until the 1970s?

As Carl has stated, the editor is not always going to be listed on the first page of the score and could be on the cover or title page. And you would have to consult the original manuscript or first edition to see if any changes were made in the score itself. The whole point were making is to state what editions are original and what are not, based on if their are a contributions by editors that are under copyright. Even arrangements NOT made by the composer could be totally ineligible.

The Pfitzner is NOT eligible because of the rule in Canada for Publication, Performance, Broadcasts, Recordings or "Delivered" for less than 50 years of protection. Once one of those things have happened, the copyright kicks in for that piece. Since it was performed in 1977, its not eligible, the life + 50 overrides the urtext rule.
