Weber, Wilhelm Tell ⟨User:Fynnjamin [#16878]

Dear Fynnjamin:

Please do not use the tag "stage works" -- it is to be used only on those rare occasions, like Stravinsky's L'Histoire, where there is no other category that fits. Although Weber's Wilhelm Tell was wrongly tagged as a song, it is, in fact incidental music, for which we do have an official tag. Grove lists Deodata as an opera, for which we have an official tag.

Also, Romberg's Kindesmörderin is listed as a cantata and in any case, "pieces" is a generic for instrumental pieces, not vocal. Please can you look at your genres more carefully?

Thanks, B

Sorry Becky, was not being thorough enough. Sadly I don't have access to Grove Online, so checking up on some of these things can get rather tiresome. Will be more vigilant in future! I did notice that A Romberg's Monolog had been totally incorrectly tagged and instrumentation misidentified; I tried to clear this up, but in hindsight I suppose it is also a secular cantata...

I get carried away sometimes, thanks for taking me to task! Fynn

Funnily enough, Grove doesn't even list that one (it's list for Romberg is "selective") and several libraries classify the Monolog as a cantata, so I'm leaving it like that, but I just changed "voice" to soprano, since the voice type is specified. B
