Piano score versus Piano part ⟨User:Fynnjamin [#18442]

The score is always going to have lines for the other instruments (usually smaller staves), while the part will usually just have the two staves and (maybe) some cues. Piano scores - standard issue for chamber music now - didn't really start appearing until the early 1800s Some publishers issued things like piano trios in parts only well into the 1840s and even beyond. If it is just parts - which seem to be the majority of the things you're adding - just use the name of the instrument (e.g. Piano, Violin, Cello) beneath the "Parts" tab to avoid confusion. There are times when you can be tricked into thinking its just a part if you only look at the first page. If the work started with only the piano playing for the first page, some publishers would not bother to have the (more expensive) score pages engraved until the other instruments entered.

You probably saw Notenschreiber's post on my workpage about this?

I know the difference, but there have been several times where I have put "Piano" or "Piano part" in, only for someone to edit it to Piano score (when it isn't) - so *I* got confused and unsure about which was right. Now I shall be vigilant!
