Franz Anton Hoffmeister ⟨User:Notenschreiber [#19763]

I actually managed to obtain a copy of Weinmann's book, which is *not* actually a catalogue of Hoffmeister's compositions but one of items published by him (including other composers like Haydn and Beethoven, for example). There seem to be only various partial catalogues - one for the symphonies, others for particular genres (which also include works of other composers), so this is perhaps a good change to put the system-generated numbers into play. Hoffmeister's opus numbers are quite useless as well because he started the numbering over for each genre. A facsimile of his 1800 catalogue appears in Weinmann's book. In the first few pages one sees that "Op.1" is employed 4 times: for the soli, the duets, the terzetti, and the quartets.
