BNF files dates ⟨User:Berwald [#23545]

That red year that was stamped on these old scores are NOT publication dates, those are deposit dates when the were put into the library catelogue at BNF.

Yes I know, but it is interesting to mention them in brackets, I think, no? Moreover the indication is each time given by the BNF catalog...

Yes but the point of the field is for the publication dates, not for deposit dates. You can put that below in the Misc. Notes field, if you would like it still shown, like "Deposit Date: 18XX" or something similar.

Like you want. Just a note: France invented the legal deposit and in the vast majority of cases the BNF deposit date is the date of publication, so the information can be considered relevant. In any case, I only indicated it in square brackets when this same indication appeared in the publication field of the BNF catalog. So professional librarians of the BNF are wrong, then? It's good to know...
