Ô Canada (Lavallée, Calixa) ⟨User:Fugalicious [#23894]

Sorry once again, this edition is not even 25 years old for critical edition status, and what I found online about it was the edition you got it from is the first edition publication so it might be 25 more years until this edition will become eligible.

Ack. I am pretty sure this arrangement was at least published in the 1980 edition of this hymnal, but that's still not long enough ago. I forgot to consider when this may have been the first publication. Thanks for the catch.

The thing is though the arranger died in the 1960s so it could also be a reprint of a engraving from that era but we would need to see one from that era to confirm.

Sallen112, I think this arrangement was first published under a different text in 1938. It's part of the Anglican "Book of Common Prayer" in Canada published in that year.

Here is a record of the hymn: https://hymnary.org/hymn/BoCP1938/325

Do you think this is satisfactory evidence that the first publication of this SATB setting was well before 1994? If so, perhaps I can submit this score next year, since it will have been over 25 years since publication?

might be best to wait until next year.

Hi Sallen, could you please unblock the file now? I've posted it at https://imslp.org/wiki/Special:ReverseLookup/579378

Hey, any word on this file? You had suggested on 30 June 2019 that I post the file next year, and now we're in 2020. Any chance you could unblock the file?
