Cantata I vs Italian Cantata I ⟨User:Grantco [#25191]

Dear Grant:

Why have you created two pages for the same work? IMSLP's policy is to have one page per work.

Also, most vocal cantatas are entitled by their incipits. Shouldn't this be called "Vaga madre"?

Thanks, B

I thought I had accidentally deleted the Cantata I when I did a page for Cantata 5. After posting 5 I couldn't see 1. If there are now 2 please delete one of them. And rename it if you like. The original calls it by the number...

I see also that they called one Italian Cantata 1. If you prefer that title for both that is fine as well. They are from the same collection.

Do you know off-hand if he wrote any other sets of Cantatas? That would be a strong argument for changing the names, since there would then be more than one "Cantata I". Thanks, B

No other sets that I know of. It's possible he wrote others in manuscript. At some point I'll probably upload all Six of them but just haven't had the time yet...

I did find reference to others, though I didn't really look for scans to see if they were the same ones. So I did change the names to the incipits. But I referenced the numbers in the links. If you go to the pages, you will see how I set them up. B
