Bertini sonata no.2 ⟨User:James Bailey [#2648]

usually when I write a date there I mean date of publication, since date of composition is much more difficult to determine! (Usually I write "p." next to it, though, and I should have done this time too. Sorry...)

Date of publication I have from Hofmeister's Monthly Report (or however Monatsberichte is translated...) - see this link - open it in a new tab or window, I think... - establishing that it was published by Schott in or by 1845, and perhaps earlier (and perhaps by someone else earlier still- HMB doesn't establish an earliest date of publication, let alone of composition. :) )

I guess that Beyls may be referring to the date of publication as well. I believe that the edition by Lemoine Cotage 2938 slightly preceded the Schott edition. It is an interesting coincidence that the entry before Bertini's in the link to the HMB which you sent me contains three compositions by Delphin Alard; Bertini's Second Violin Sonata is dedicated to Alard.
