If this is an arrangement by Franz Krommer mainly, shouldn't the workpage be under his name instead?

The arrangement is by Rosinack, the original work by Krommer. But the work by Krommer is unknown, it´s definitely not a quintet for oboe and strings. If we want to place the work in the category "Krommer", at which workpage? To create a workpage for a oboe quintet with Krommer as composer is worse than that we have until now.

| If this is an arrangement, we can still list it as Page Type=Arrangement. But if it was truly "co-authored", Krommer would have to have known about it and been involved in the creation of the quintet. If not, it is merely an arrangement. Do you know whether Krommer was consciously involved, or whether Rosinack just took some piece and arranged it? Thanks, B

| I know nothing about that. But the problem is: if we call it "an arrangement", we should know an arrangement of what. What would be the name of the workpage? I´m afraid, there is no really convincing solution of this problem.

| We have many pages that are arrangements, but the original is unknown, so this is a common problem we deal with all the time. I usually notate in the Comment section what the issues are, so that I don't have to re-research to come to the same conclusions. If we don't know whether Krommer was personally involved, my suggestion is to use the "Page Type=Arrangement" field, and leave it under Rosinack's name but notate that the original is unknown and that tagging/page title/etc. can be corrected if the original is found.
Personally, the first movement sounds so much like a harmonie to me that I started looking in Krommer's partitas and serenades, but we don't have very many of them and what we do have doesn't match.

| Of course i have tried to find the original, also in Krommer´s string quintetts. Further more i made an incipit search in RISM. This has worked successfully in Rosinacks arrangement of a composition by Righini, but failed now. But it is o.K. for me, if you change things accordingly to your suggestions.

| Check the page now and see what you think. B

| I agree for the major changes, i have only deleted your remarks about collaborations. Rosinack made a lot of arrangements of works by Krommer and others, but no connections between him and the other composers are known. (And geographically very unlikely.) Probably Rosinack and Krommer doesn´t know each other personally.
