Chopin nocturnes ⟨User:Fryderyka [#31519]

Hi Fryderyka,

I'm the other person who submitted a scan of the Nocturnes by Chopin in the National Edition. I'm writing with three purposes.

First, I want to say that your scan looks terrific! I'm really happy someone is taking on the project of putting up the whole National Edition.

Second, I want to let you know that I already have a scan of the Études from Series A. So if you haven't scanned those already, I wanted to let you know you can avoid duplicating effort that I've taken on already, if you so wish.

Third, I wanted to note something about copyright. In my upload of the Nocturnes, I removed almost all the editorial fingerings because I thought they wouldn't be allowed. If you want to submit other volumes from this edition, it may be worth messaging Carolus or Sallen112 to double-check what they think about the permissibility of including editorial fingerings. None of us would want the scores you've so carefully put together to be taken down later. I'm also interested in the outcome of this, so if you end up looking into it, please let me know the result – it will affect which version of my scan of the Études I would post, as I already removed editorial fingerings from that, but I have the original scan too.

Thanks so much, and I'm looking forward to seeing your scans of other volumes from the National Edition on IMSLP in the coming years!

Looks like what I had proposed might not be allowed. I'll clarify with HobbyPianist separately. If there is some way for us to do this, I'll reach out again!

OK, thanks for confirming, Sallen112!

Fryderyka, if you're able, would you be able to check which of the volumes in this series have copyright dates of 1996 or earlier, and which have dates for each year between 1997 and 2000? If I'm able to find editions conveniently enough, I don't mind scanning these books myself, but it would help me to know which editions I should prioritize. The things that have a copyright date on the first page of the music (after the preface) of 1996 or earlier are things that I can post this year if I scan and redact them.

Sorry for the lapse in communication, school's picking back up again. I did this quickly so there may be some mistakes. Looks like (from Series A) the Nocturnes, Polonaises and Sonatas are from 1995, the Ballades are from 1997, the Mazurkas are from 1998, the Etudes and Waltzes are from 1999, and the Preludes and Scherzos are from 2000.

Extremely helpful—thanks, Fryderyka! Hope school is treating you well :)
