6 String Trios, Op.1 (Baldenecker, Udalrich) ⟨User:Fynnjamin [#31716]

Hi there,
user LinBoHe wrote that the 6 String Trios, Op.1 might be from his son Johann Bernhard Baldenecker (i.e. Johann Baptist), see discussion. He mentioned sources which attribute these to his son, even the order + keys are the same, so a copyist may have wrongly written the name? Or maybe didn't believe a musical prodigy could have written something like this? I don't know the correct procedure in such cases... maybe you can have a look at this and answer LinBoHe? At least we could place a comment on the work page that the authorship is doubtful... or move the page if you think so. Thanks and Regards, HP

I think this is highly unlikely - all authority sources (Gerber 1790, Fetis, Eitner, RISM, and indeed the most recent research: MMM2) attribute these 6 trios to the father Udalrich. And with a pretty good reason: the title-page names Mr Baldenecker as "Musicien de la Cour de S.A.E. de Mayence", a job title which none of Udalrich's sons ever bore.
