Ok its good your adding in the librettist in this field for works with text, but a couple things you need to go further with is the follow:
- 1. Make sure the field is link to a librettist's category page (same as a composer) in the librettist field when making a new workpage. Search by last name for it to come up in search in the drop down menu for creating a workpage.
- 2. If we do not have the page, please make one as other users then can link to the same page. The page's name won't appear in the drop down menu right away so you need to use a LinkLib template to link to the person's name (go into edit on a workpage already on here to see this if the field is linked to so you can copy that to workpage creations).
- 3. Also make sure you are doing research to find out the librettist's full original name (not a Pseudo name or abbreviated first name needs to be avoided when making the librettists pages, it must be the full name if possible) with the birth and death dates also filled in. Same process to making the pages as making a composer page.
The reason I am mentioning all of this is librettists have a separate layer of copyright than just the piece itself so it has to be considered for accepting a file on here.

OK...I will try to find the librettists's pages when possible...some are quite obscure

| That is true, but please try your best with how many files your adding everyday right now. Also the workpage titles should just be one title in a language, not two with one in parentheses, that translated title should be moved to the alternate title. The workpage title can be the one to the original's work title in the original language.

| Do I leave the librettist field blank or write "unknown" when in doubt?

| so noted...thanks

| If you really don't know absolutely, yes please just add in Unknown for now until someone has more info.
Since your only adding in files that are completely PD everywhere, I am not too fussed, but we need to have every bit of info possible for every work if known on here.

| One more thing for composers who created the work but also wrote the text for the same work, please just put "Composer" in the Librettist field, thanks.

| Will do. But I should add that copyright will not be an issue with any of these mid-19th century librettists.

| Also the same with any field where its the same as the workpage owner (Editor, Arranger, Translator, etc.).

| When you fill out a name like a librettist, editor, arranger, etc. (all work the same way), please make sure you are putting in the last name first, a drop down menu of various name will appear below where you type, then choose the category page name in that drop down menu if we have the page. Right now your not linking any of these contributors to their category pages.
Also with this era of publishing in the 19th century, as you have come across, many contributors have names abbreviated or pseudonyms, so you need to do a bit of problem solving in figuring out by doing some Googling (VIAF or Musicsack work for finding people too) for figuring out who the person is abbreviated. Its not always possible but I already found a number of contributors you didn't look up of category pages we already had if you just linked to them.

| I will try to be spend more time with this. I have to say, though many of these librettists are extremely obscure. Looking them up can lead to interesting insights, though. For instance, Harry Goodblood was a pseudonym for a black vaudevillian and librettist Carlos Moran.
I also find that librettists' names don't always appear on dropdowns ...I'm not sure why. Maybe because I am not putting the last name first.
