Locked Files ⟨User:Town explorer [#33216]

These files you submitted below:

Bohemios (Cimadevilla, Francisco)
Suite española No.1, Op.47 (Albéniz, Isaac)‎
Celos de Pancha (Cimadevilla, Francisco)
Capricho Bolero para Guitarra (Cimadevilla, Francisco)

Seem to have a permission lock on these files (meaning you need to know the password in order to unlock them). We do not really allow such files on here (these usually get thrown under the radar for uploading and reviewing so I do not always see this) as these should be completely open to being modifiable. I have blocked the files for now until you can get the files unlocked and resubmit them under the file number as a new version.

If you cannot do this yourself, I can probably circumvent this using a workaround method if you do not know the password, but any future files you submit on here, the files cannot have any kind of permission lock on them otherwise they will be blocked (I won't delete them) but they will have to be unlocked before they can be approved.

As I don't know the pass words and have not any computer tool that can unlock files, I reworked the files using a primitive way that forced me much labor and time. Now I have resubumitted those files in new names. Please confirm them and delete locked old files.

Sam, I am going to approve the new files, but I'm going to quickly replace them with superior versions extracted from the old versions. Also, for whenever this arises in the future, I am going to send you a simple-to-use tool that will solve your problem completely.

Thank you. What is the tool you recommend ? In past, I tried to use some PDF editing tools, but I failed to use them enough. I am so aged that I cannnot understand too complixed instraction manual, especialy in English.

Town explorer --- in this case, it is a simple tool for admins, so we can fix these files if they are already uploaded.

For users, the simplest tool I have found is QPDF (https://qpdf.sourceforge.io/). The command is "qpdf --decrypt [original filename] [new filename]", but you need to be able to use the command line to do that. Once you have installed the program it is as simple as that one command, though.

I have updated all the original files to unlock the original PDFs. Everything has been completed successfully.

Actually, if the file is uploaded, you can use this IMSLP tool on your own files, although only copyright reviewers can use it on unapproved files not uploaded by themselves: Unlock PDF. If you have uploaded a locked PDF, you can unlock it after uploading and before the reviewer reviews the file.

(Also, in the eventual update to the upload system, I will actually make it so any locked PDF unlocks automatically.)

Thank you Dbmiller. I tried to download and install 'QPDF' you recommended, but failed. It seems beyond my ability. I will ask some computer savvy person to install it to my computer.
