Using the IArchS template ⟨User:Fynnjamin [#3659]

Hi,

You've been adding so many wonderful things from this massive archive - so I thought you might like to know the trick to making the {{IArchS}} template work properly. You have to include more of the url string to make it link directly to Internet archive's reader, which is quite nice. For example using the template on Howard's ''Selected Songs and Cantatas'' the way you appear to be mainly using it {{IArchS|songscantatas00howa}} results in archive.org - a simple link to the detail page, while adding the rest of the url-string {{IArchS|songscantatas00howa#page/n3}} gives archive.org - a direct link to the reader itself.

That's the main reason I set up the separate template - so we could have direct links to the reader. This is especially useful for the larger files which result from the color scans of manuscripts and early prints. There are also a couple of additional subsidiary templates for Internet archive. {{IArchDt}} enables you to do a direct link to an individual page (as in a composer catalogue, a biography, etc.) and the {{IArchS1}} which is basically a single-page version of the {{IArchS}} template.

There's even more you can do with these, I've been finding out. Take a look at what you uploaded today - Musikalisches Kunstmagazin . Every chapter now jumps directly to its corresponding page in the archive.org file. It's not necessary to add the "/mode/2up" at the end of the string either, though it does still work properly with it there.

I have done that with a couple of my uploads - it is a bit tidier I guess. I'll try and update a few more. The reason the "/mode/2up" has been there - I'm just using the saved Auto-Fill form data from previous uploads, & pasting in the new address. Ta.
