Hi Fynn,

Would it be possible for you to go back and remove the bogus copyright notices from each of these pages? Unfortunately I hadn't realized at first that they were present, but it's been IMSLP's policy for a while to purge files of things like this, and they will have to be taken down if the notices remain.

Thanks --

oh. How do you get rid of the watermark notices? That does seem a lot of bother. Oh, now I see I've been told this before too... sorry

It's OK; I don't know how I'd do it myself (Cypressdome probably does though), but while it's being sorted out maybe they should just be taken down temporarily, at least if we're looking at something like a few days or more to get them back without the notices. Sorry I can't be of more help.

There appear to be a fair number of these. I am inclined to go ahead an just approve them for now. BDH's copyright claim is so flatly absurd I doubt it would hold up even in the EU. That said, the idiotic notices need to be scrubbed and the files replaced. Cypressdome is extremely well-versed in the procedure for this.

The main problem with BDH's bogus copyright notices is that not all of them can be removed easily. Those on the black and white scores from the Romantic era are usually simply Acrobat watermarks that can be removed using Adobe Acrobat Pro. Those on the grayscale scores from the Classical era don't exist in a separate layer from the image of the score and cannot be removed by Acrobat or Pitstop Professional. The only way I can see to remove them is to extract the pages as tif files and then either crop out the notice or erase it. That is time consuming. The two recent G.F. Fuchs scores I posted took about one hour each to extract, convert to b/w, crop, and pack into a new PDF file. I had to abandon one Fuchs score because the notice was on top of the music staff at the bottom of the page and the only way to remove it would be to painstakingly erase it off each page.

That's unfortunate news. I created a template so Fynn can review all of his recent BDH uploads and place it in the "Misc Notes" field on all pertinent file entries. {{RpFile|the nonsense BDH copyright claims must be removed}}
