Composers, arrangers and editors ⟨User:Tim.willis1685 [#7224]

Composers and arrangers are automatically considered to be the first "editor" of their own work. The editor field is normally left empty in such cases. In the case of a composer's manuscript being added, the term "Autograph" or "Holograph" in the "Publisher info" field is sufficient to identify the item as being in the hand of the composer (the editor/copyist field being left empty). Likewise, when someone has actually arranged a piece and the manuscript is added, the indication "Arranger's manuscript" is sufficient. When someone has copied out music of another composer but not altered the original instrumentation or otherwise changed the original in any serious manner, you can use the {{LinkEd}} template as they have no doubt made some contribution (even if minimal) of an editorial nature (the very same reason we list a person who produces a new typeset in a notation program as "editor", even if they provided no preface, critical notes, etc.). The idea is not clutter up an "Editor" subcategory with composers and arrangers as editors of their own efforts, limiting it to things where their primary contribution was editorial.

Thank you. I will do this from now on.

For examples where the arranger only partially copied the parts (or not at all) is it ok to do this? http://imslp.org/wiki/12_concerti_a_cinque,_Op.5_(Albinoni,_Tomaso)

That worked fine. That Albinoni page was an old one, so some updating was needed. We'll eventually have to designate it a coilection page and move all the individual concerti to their own pages - the Pisendel arrangements will go to those when the time comes. The file limit is around 300-400 per page so we have a way to go.
