Stamitz Clarinet Concertos ⟨User:Tim.willis1685 [#8140]

I am quite excited to see some of Stamitz' clarinet works have made it onto this site. However, I'm not sure the numbering is correct on one of these pieces. The one titled "Concerto III" bears no resemblance to the Concerto No. 3 by Stamitz, other than the key. The error in question is on the actual .pdf so it couldn't be a mistake that you made. Do you know which concerto this actually is?

You're right, the numbering wasn't correct. It's possible that it is just the 3rd in a group of Concertos published by Sieber, considering that the Concerto for clarinet and violin is called "Concerto IV". I don't think he wrote 4 concertos for that combination.

I know there is a standard numbering system used for the clarinet concertos (are there 11?) but I couldn't find it. I did find several "no.3"s, not including this one. I'll have another look, but it might be a good idea to post something about it in the forums, I'm sure someone there will know the answer. Do you know the number for the other Concerto?

...Actually, the Clarinet and Violin Concerto has been recorded a few times as "Concerto for 2 Clarinets no.4 in Bb"

I know there are 11, though I haven't been able to find all of them. I think the Concerto for 2 Clarinets is the 4th concerto he wrote for clarinet but that's just a guess. The other concerto I can't be sure of, as I've been unable to find a recording that matches the music posted.

The forums sounds like a good idea, I'll mention it there.
