Paul Hindemith and the Viola d'amore ⟨User:Tim.willis1685 [#8220]

Hi Tim. Just to let you know since you have been categorizing the viola d'amore pages. One thing I have come across of Paul Hindemith is his interest in the Viola d'amore. In the 1920s, he made a resurgence in the instrument from the baroque era to write music, which now we have some of his music here on IMSLP. if you are ever interested in this I have been reading and studying the book: Paul Hindemith: A Research and Information Guide by Stephan Luttmann which is where I found this info about this.

Thank you, if you find anything else of his with viola d'amore let me know, but as far as I know there are only two pieces which are both on the list of works for viola d'amore; Kammermusik no.6 and a Sonata. I don't really know much about Hindemith (or his contemporaries) but I admire his music from a distance. I know he played the d'amore, there is a photograph of him holding the instrument.

Some works Hindemith mentioned from a work list according to the book above is Christian Petzold: Suite in F for viola d'amore. Another work is Friedrich William Rust's Sonata in D for Viola d'amore. Another is Karl Stamitz 2 sonatas in D major for viola'd amore and continuo, identical to a sonata from the work Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Bayern, vol. 16. Vivaldi also had a Concerto in A minor (RV 397) for Viola d'amore and a Concerto in D minor (RV 540) for Viola d'amore and lute but RV 397 was arranged by Hindemith for viola d'amore and harpsichord (lute harpsichord) in May 1932. And lastly from vivaldi is a handwritten page copy made by hindemith of a concerto in D for viola d'amore (RV 392). Enjoy!

If it is possible Tim, could you track these pieces I listed above in libraries to see if they would possibly had these arrangements?
