List of comps featuring bassoon help out? ⟨User:Tim.willis1685 [#8752]

Hi Tim. Since you are working on various pages for the "List of Compositions" Instruments. I was wondering if you could consider in filling out things for the bassoon. I know you are interested in baroque era music, so I am wondering if you could add pieces to the basso continuo section that includes bassoon as a basso instrument for the workpage. I don't have alot of time at the moment to work on this but if you could lend a hand down the road, that would be great!

Hi Sallen112. It is very rare for the bassoon to be explicitly mentioned in the score, and some of the only evidence we have of bassoon being used in the continuo section comes from performing parts which, more often than not, only represent the preferences of and the instruments available to the people performing the work. What you are asking would require a lot of research and in the end there would be many pieces left out which very obviously would work well with bassoon, but have no sources to suggest that. I'm not sure that such a list would be very helpful.

I can think of some important solo, orchestral and chamber works with bassoon that aren't on the list. Would you like me to add those?

Yes anything would be great. Yeah the basso continuo was just a suggestion, which I figured was too big of an area to do. I will try to get back to list sometime in the future myself.
