Tagging ⟨User:Fynnjamin [#887]

Hi Fynnjamin. Thanks for all your help with the tagging. Just a couple of points to note:

  • The order of the instruments is important, so it's always "hp vn va", for example (not "vn va hp"), even if this seems illogical sometimes
  • You should only need to tag the instrumentation once, so if you have "alt vn va", you don't need to put "v vn va" as well.
  • Consider piano reductions of orchestral accompaniment to be arrangements (even if they're for pf4h, 2pf, etc.), so they shouldn't be tagged.
  • If a work is for orchestra, just use "orch". You don't need to tag the individual instruments as well.

Thanks!

Thanks for these points davydov, I'll try sticking to them. Ought to have a re-read of tagging rules actually. I think I started tagging thing in the order that made the tag appear. Might quibble there with several of the works listed as Violin Sonatas, (e.g. Sterkel) which are in fact Keyboard Sonatas with Violin accompaninment. Will be ever more diligent in future - though I won't be able to do much IMSLP stuff during July I'm afraid. Cheers

Hi Fynnjamin. Just noticed that you added the tag "4vv (arr)" to the bottom of The Last Words of Copernicus (Lancaster, Sarah). If you could avoid adding any tags with "(arr)" I'd be grateful, as normally arrangements are automatically tagged from the information in the level 5 header, and it's only in very special cases that they're added manually. Thanks
