Strauss's mother was a Pschorr, daughter of George Snr (1798-1867) and sister of George Jnr (1830-94), to whom Strauss's [[Festmarsch, Op.1 (Strauss, Richard)|Festmarsch, Op.1] is dedicated. Her nephew, her brother George Jnr's son August was also a Strauss dedicatee (Op.48).
