Misc. Notes The Ferdinand Ries Gesellschaft and Cecil Hill, Ferdinand Ries: A Thematic Catalogue identify the Goulding publication from 1817 as the first edition but a plate number of 177 does seem to suggest 1812 for Richault. Ries' Clarinet Sonata, Op.29 was first published by Simrock in 1812 and Richault's edition of that work carries plate number 170 suggesting both Op.77 No.1 and Op.29 were issued by Richault in 1812.
