N.B. Op.2 consists in 6 harpsichord (or pianoforte) 3-movement sonatas with violin ad lib. For the solo harpsichord pieces, see Pièces de Clavecin.
Sonates en Pièces de Clavecin means literally "Sonatas (instead of suites) of harpsichord pieces with violin accompaniment". Consequently, this score is considered complete, except for the missing separate violin part. Traditionally, the accompanying violinist would play from the main score, reading over the shoulder of the harpsichordist.
