Sonates en pièces de clavecin means literally "Sonatas in form (or the style) of harpsichord pieces with violin accompaniment". Consequently, this score is considered complete, except for the missing separate violin part. Most of the time, the accompanying violinist would play from the main score, reading over the shoulder of the harpsichordist.
