About the librettist (not meant as a comment on the lyrics of these two- three if someone links the Spohr work with lyrics by Dingelstedt as well- so far, works or music, just a historical tangent...) Dingelstedt was the intendant of the Weimar theater in the late 1850s and early 1860s, at one point a friend of Liszt's (and regarded by Liszt biographer Alan Walker as a partial cause of some of Liszt's major troubles in Liszt's later years working at Weimar.)- Schissel
