URTEXT EDITION
This "urtext" or "scholarly" (scientific) edition is in the public domain because it was published at least 25 years ago for most of the EU (20 years ago in Italy, 30 years ago in Poland) over 25 years ago for the former USSR. Such editions are also public domain in Canada because they fail to meet the minimum 'threshold of originality' to qualify for copyright as an 'adaptation'. They may not be public domain elsewhere. More information about this can be found here.

Navigation etc.

Krommer's 9 partitas for wind nonet (opp.57, 67, 69, 71, 73, 76, 77, 78 and 79) were originally published as "Harmonie". Several manuscript sources listed in RISM, however, use Partitta or Parthia. The modern editions by Musica rara (opp. 57, 67, 69 and 79) dropped the title "Harmonie" using "Octet-Partita" instead, hinting thereby at the possibility to perform the works as octets. While the Contrabassoon improves the sonorities of the ensemble substantially, Bassoon II and Contrabassoon are mostly in octave parallels and only a few bars have a distinct contrabassoon part.
