The contralto aria "Long Since in Egypt's Pleasant Land" was adapted after the composer's death as a setting for the hymn "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind", with new words by John Greenleaf Whittier (1807–1892). This adaptation (also known as "Repton") was made in 1924 by George Gilbert Stocks (1877-1960), and remains in copyright in Europe and the United States.
