Date 1864 from CĂ ceres, Das Echte und Innerliche in der Kunst: Der Komponist, Dirigent und Padagoge Woldemar Bargiel(1828-1897): Ein Beitrag Zur Musikgeschichte des unbekannten 19. Jahrhunderts , p.188. Performances in December 1864 in Gurzenich and March 23 1865 at the Leipzig Gewandhaus are mentioned. Other sources have 1866 (even the MPH preface for the miniature score) for the composition date but this information suggests strongly that it was completed or at least performable before 1866.
Breitkopf und Härtel published a revised edition (full orchestra score and parts) in 1880. (The Musikproduktion Höflich edition is a reprint of the 1880 edition, not the first edition.)

2 commercial (orchestral) recordings exist as of 2014 (on Toccata Classics and Sterling.) (Both are about 30 minutes though the recording on Sterling takes the first-movement repeat not taken on Toccata Classics.)
