Talk:Ballade, Op.17 (Weil, Oscar)

can't play piano but I do like the look of this ballade, my honest opinion... Eric 23:49, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

This is a really strange case. The engraving (and plate number) appears to be Cranz's work - but Weil was an American and the principal imprint was Schmidt. Carolus 01:29, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Weil spent a lot of time in Austria? Germany? according to the bio I'd read- this was printed some years after, but I'm conjecturing some American composers who studied there and returned to the states, and further that Weil among them, maintained connections with European teachers, friends and also publishers... that Schmidt is mentioned first is odd, though, agreed... Eric 02:00, 10 August 2011 (UTC) (though I keep remembering one other case of Schmidt-Cranz cooperation that also I think had a Cranz plate, whether or not it's related at all- the piano reduction of Paine's 2nd symphony.)
