Talk:Missa Brevis (Scott, Douglas Walter)

Final Update

I have uploaded the completed typeset score with cover page and other accoutrements. I will leave the manuscript up as a curiosity though, in case anyone wants to see how bad my handwriting is.

There are one or two unclear or incorrect notes in the manuscript score:

Gloria:

pg. 5 system 1 bar 3.3 TB, should be a B-flat to be in unison with SA.

Kyrie:

- Tutti section, second "Christ have have mercy", very last soprano note quaver (pg.2 system 5 bar 1.3.3 Soprano line). May appear to have the flat erased. This is in fact a G-flat and not a G natural.

- The final "have mercy" (pg. 3 system 1 bar 3) should have a "diminuendo il possible" indicated and the final chord in the organ should have "a niente" indicated.

Sanctus:

- Pg1 system 1 bar 3.3 Tenors and Basses should also be a C sharp to be in unison with the Sops and altos.

- Pg3 system 2 bar 1 Organ part has missing ledger lines in the tenor line, the notes are E-flat and F.

Update:

Gloria is now typeset. The rest of the movements will follow shortly.

After having some trouble transcoding the midi file into something bearable I have added suggested tempo indications. They are only rough guides as ultimately the tempos should flow naturally following the meaning of the text and music. Please note that the tempo indication for the first "Larghetto" section is in dotted crotchets to fit the meter, the rest are in crotchets (it should work out to the same as the other comparable sections). Update

Final touches put on the Gloria. I have re-uploaded the (now final) file. Now that I know the simplest way of doing this, the rest should follow without a hitch in final versions.Dwscores 00:37, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Update:

The Kyrie is done.

I have very slightly modified the last Chorale section with a nod to singability (i.e. with more conventional voice-leading), but attempts to further soften it only made me realize that the "bad" voice leading is exactly how want it, and why. Sorry, I know it will be a pain to read and sing. Hopefully the artistic merit will make the effort worth it ;) Dwscores 07:52, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Update:

I noticed some miss-alignment of words in the chorale section of the Kyrie. I will upload the corrected version I made after I have typeset the other two movements so I don't strain the mods overmuch. If anyone wants it immediately for some obscure reason I can put it up for you, it is a relatively minor typographical thing though. Dwscores 12:33, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Update:

I have uploaded the Sanctus corrected Kyrie. I should be done with the Agnus before Christmas at this rate. Dwscores 16:05, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
