Talk:Prélude et ballade (Balay, Guillaume)

This item has been withdrawn from Sibley (follow the link) probably because it's non-PD-US. Eric 03:03, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

I have my doubts about this being protected in the USA, or even being first published in 1937. The engraving looks more like something done in the late 1800s or early 20th century. Note also the low plate number. Even if it were issued in 1937, it was published without a notice, which is a fatal error unless an NIE was filed. UPDATE: Based on other Evette & Schaeffer plate numbers, which were up to the 1400's by 1921, I am estimating this item was actually first published around 1910. I note that Leduc registered a piece with this title in 1952 and renewed it in 1980 as a work made for hire, which is completely bogus if this edition pre-dates theirs - which it almost certainly does. This appears to be yet another example of copyfraud, which is sadly all too common. Sibley does withdraw or limit access to things which are not free in the EU, BTW.
