Talk:5 Songs, Op.1 (Grechaninov, Aleksandr)

I bought this manusript on ebay in 2009. I asked the seller where it came from and he said it was from the collection of a Russian impresario (if I remember right). He had a lot of other manuscripts from the collection for sale. Unfortunately I can't find that message. I assume that it's either the copyist or the owner that's listed on the cover along with the composer. If anyone can shed some light on this, or even translate the cover and song text/title (unfortunately I don't speak Russian), I would be very grateful. Andrewt 20:17, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

I just uploaded a scan of the original version. I can read Russian. It looks like it was copied out in order to transpose the key down from e minor to d minor.

Nothing by Gretchaninov is public domain in the EU, because he died in 1956 (i.e., less than 70 years ago). The Rule of the Shorter Term doesn't apply to him, only to Russians who died before 1953. Cheers, KGill _{talk email} 02:35, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
