Flight of the Bumblebee
This selection, known outside of the opera as "Flight of the Bumblebee" (Полёт шмеля), although not labeled as such in the score, ends the first scene of the third act, where the Swan sings over the music and constitutes by far the most well-known item from this opera. The music recurs in modified guise during the ensuing tableau of the opera (Act III, Scene 2).
This excerpt is NOT part of the Suite (Tableaux Musicaux), Op.57, although it is sometimes included during performances of the suite. The various arrangements listed in this publication history are the earliest ones only -- a mere fraction of those that exist now.
