Talk:Water Music, HWV 348-350 (Handel, George Frideric)

The link for the pdf of IMSLP #04855 apparently points to an invalid pdf. I can download the file, but no pdf reader I have accepts it.

The first transcription for Piano 4 hands (Burchard) is not complete. It's only the first Suite.

The page has been changed to note it. KGill talk email 00:02, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Splitting

IMHO, this shouldn't be split. Most often this is performed as a single work, and I think it isn't practical to have to separated (keeping in mind that this site is largely for performers and interested musicians). BKhon 19:44, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Totally agree. Handel composed this as a unit, it was published as a unit, it was known throughout the 18th Century as a unit - therefore it should remain as a unit. Besides, the idea of there being three suites is wrong anyway. A new source was discovered about 10 years ago I think - the earliest extant one - which contains not three suites but one single series of pieces. The 'three suites' idea is a theory from the 1950s, and IMO the Water Music should absolutely NOT be split up, since it was actually written as a single sequence of movements. --Irishmaestro 09:08, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Mixed up parts

Under the parts, the oboe link refers to the bassoon part, and the bassoon link to the oboe part. I don't know how to fix this, but I'm sure somebody else knows how to.

Done. Thanks for pointing this out — P.davydov 07:47, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
