Example.jpg Marcellino Safwat Born on 23 June 1994, Marcellino joined the Cairo Conservatoire when he was seven. He studies cello with Prof. Dr. Ashraf Sharara, Head of String Instruments at the Cairo Conservatoire and Dean of the Institute of Arts for Children.

He has taken part in many masterclasses with top flight musicians such as Rebecca Gilliver (principal cellist of the London Symphony Orchestra), Yuko Miyagawa, Peter Hoerr (German cellist & conductor) and Kamel Salah Eldien (principal cellist of the Frankfurt Baroque Orchestra). He has performed numerous solo concerts in Cairo Opera House and has performed with symphony orchestras in Finland (Savonlinna Symphony Orchestra), Tunisia (Cairo Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra) and Dubai (Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra). He performed with great conductors such as Ralph Gothoni, Peter Hoerr, Gergaly Madares, and Sir Mark Elder.

Most recently he was the youngest member of the Aldeburgh World Orchestra 2012 which performed in Holland (Het Concertgebouw Robeco Summer Festival), Germany (Ingolstadt Audi Summer Festival), and the United Kingdom (BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall and Snape Maltings Concert Hall). He won first prize in the competition of the Egyptian Council for Culture 2010. He has performed his first recital in the British Embassy in 2013. He has invited by Maestro Lorin Maazel to be a member of Castleton Festival Orchestra.
