  • Incipit: "In vain fair Chloris". It is also in the table of contents under this title.
  • Published by Henry Lawes, the attribution of this air in the table of contents is to "Sir Edw. Dering". Lawes must have known it was Dering's wife Mary who wrote it, because she was, according to Grove Music, his pupil. According to the Grove Music article, it was Lady Dering herself who wished to keep her authorship unknown, citing a dedication that Lawes himself wrote. The table of contents attribution to her husband did not stop Lawes from writing "The Lady Deerings composing" at the end of the air, however (see p.25 in the Lawes collection).
