Born in Gloucester, fourth child of Herbert Morris Braithwaite (rector of St. Michael's, Gloucester), and Julia Mary (nee Young). Married Sophy Kathleen Cottrell in 1942. Taught music at Elmfield School, Stourbridge, West Midlands. Played and taught piano, and composed.
Published work: A Book of Songs (Vol 1) 1970 (revised 1984), with a foreword by Yehudi Menuhin. A Book of Songs (Vol 2) 1978.
Other works include: A Sonata for Violin & Piano; Incidental Music for a production of The Merchant of Venice; Music for the Act of Consecration for Piano or Strings; many other short pieces and songs, arrangements of carols and folk-songs.
Published work: A Book of Songs (Vol 1) 1970 (revised 1984), with a foreword by Yehudi Menuhin. A Book of Songs (Vol 2) 1978.
