Danish composer, organist, and music educator and father of
Louis Glass. He entered the Conservatory founded by Siboni at age eleven, where he studied piano and theory with J. P. E. Hartmann. After working as a choir singer and briefly as an actor, he taught piano and voice in Aarhus (1846–1849) and Copenhagen, and served as organist (Reformert Kirke) from 1859 until his death. In 1877 he established a piano conservatory that operated until 1932, later managed by his son Louis. His compositions include piano music, songs, a funeral march for King Frederick VII, concert overtures, and orchestral pieces.
