Conductor of first complete performance of Paul Hindemith's
Konzertmusik, Op.48 on Sept 22, 1930 in Graz.
From 1938 to 1944 he was principal conductor of the Munich Philharmonic.
He made efforts to secure performances of the works of his contemporaries
Johann Nepomuk David (1895-1977) and
Franz Schmidt (1874—1939).
