History
Jacques Hamelle purchased the Paris publisher J. Maho (founded 1851) in 1877 and expanded the catalogue with the works of notable French composers of the era - including those of Debussy, Faure, Franck, D'Indy, Pierne, Saint-Saens, and Widor. After his death in 1917, the firm continued operation under his children until its sale to Leduc in the early 1940s.
