Navigation etc.

Euphoric over the purchase of a new instrument, Robinson worked out these variations on the famous 24th Caprice of Paganini over two days in 1983 and first performed them in his junior recital at the Cleveland Institute of Music. This work is partly a derivative work, since the original theme and a few variations by Nicolo Paganini have entered the public domain. The work requires quite advanced conventional techniques of the double bassist, including frequent double stops, two-octave leaps and exceptional speed.
