Misc. Comments
Worldcat seems to think that Bernhard Schmidt (in Popper's opus 76 e.g.) is the 1962-born cellist of the Mandelring Quartett, which unless something fishy is going on with edition and plate superimposition, is somewhere around unlikely (and only possible if the editions they have are, unlike this one, initially recent, like the International Music Edition might be.) (I wonder if "Bernh." might be Bernhardus or something else rather than Bernhard? - unlikely: there are other cello works edited by Bernhard Schmidt, written in full, on imslp).
U. Chicago - Newberry Library has the entry "Bernhard Schmidt 1870- ", which is at least more likely than above. I updated the edition info accordingly.
