Misc. Comments

According to Wikipedia-da, Heise wrote 6 string quartets. The (autograph/copy) manuscripts of 5 of them (we have no.2 in G from ca.(?)1852 here already...) have now been digitized by the Danish Royal Library. (The full score of no.4 is certainly an autograph; the first page of the finale is crossed out after two systems (Presto) before the composer starts over with something new- a copyist would have passed over that page entirely.)

Heise's 6 string quartets will be recorded on the Danish Dacapo label in several installments, the first CD expected out in 2015.

There seems to be no date on the ms; however Robin Stowell (in the Cambridge Companion to the String Quartet) writes

"Heise, on the other hand, composed six quartets, the most distinctive of which, in C minor (1857)"...

The keys of Heise's string quartets, by the way, are (by the numbering used by DKB)

No.1 in B minor (h mol)
No.2 in G major
No.3 in B major (score bundled with autograph scores of quartets 1 and 2 in a manuscript volume at DKB, which has been scanned.)
No.4 in C minor
No.5 in A major
No.6 in G minor
