as usual, careful about using sources like HMB (or any others) - if they mark down a work as having a composer "Mayer, Ch." or "Mayer, C."- note from other entries that another composer active at the same time may have had the name "Mayer, Chr." (Christian? Not the same Christian Mayer in Musicsack, probably, who was from a much earlier generation) - this happens with many composers (and composer worklist projects :) ) anycase... - there are a few reasons why an opus 40 e.g. might appear inbetween an opus 268 and an opus 270 in HMB- reprinting/new edition is one, but a different composer is another, of course...
