A considerable portion of the matter relating to the structure and action of the Flute embodied in the following pages, formed part of a paper which was submitted to, and read at the Section appropriated to Mechanical Science, at the last meeting of the British Association, held at Cork. It was accompanied by one of the Patent Flutes, and excited considerable attention.
