Nicole Chamberlain, born Nicole Randall, is a composer and flutist living in Atlanta, GA. Her works have been performed from Alias Chamber Ensemble in Nashville, TN to flutist, James Strauss in Recife, Brazil. The bulk of Nicole’s work is for the concert setting, but she has also set some films to music, winning “Best Original Score” for the 2003 Atlanta 48 Hour Film Project for the musical “Storyboard in A Major”. She worked for a number of years at a children’s multimedia company as music director where she wrote most of the company’s soundtracks. Nicole's works have been featured on "Live in Studio C", bowed.org, International Festival of Women Composers at IUP, SCI Conference at UCM, and IAWM World Congress 2011. In 2008, Nicole was awarded Atlanta Pen Women's Composer of the Year. In 2010, Nicole won “Audience Favorite” at the Atlanta Opera’s 24 Hour Opera Project for her opera "Scrub-A-Dub Raw". Recently she has been commissioned by the Atlanta Opera to compose a children's opera "Rabbit Tales" which will premiere in October 2011. Nicole received her Bachelors in Music Composition from the University of Georgia where she studied with Dr.William Davis, Dr. Leonard Ball, Dr.Lewis Nielson and Dr. Roger Vogel and was selected for masterclasses with Charles Wuorinen and Joan Tower.

Nicole, as a flutist, currently performs with duoATL, Chamberlain Duo, Mercury Season, New Atlanta Philharmonic, and various jazz situations throughout Atlanta. She has appeared with such groups as Cobb Symphony Orchestra, neoPhonia, Bent Frequency, Capitol City Opera, and Orchestra Atlanta. She has performed at the Spoleto Music Festival in Charleston, at various colleges like Emory University’s Schwartz Center, and local venues such as Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. Nicole has participated in Masterclasses with Bradly Garner (Julliard), Paul Edmund-Davies (London Symphony Orchestra) and Dr.Gordon Cole (University of Kentucky). Nicole’s former flute teachers have included Donna Orbavich (Hong Kong Symphony), Lisa Wienhold (Alabama Symphony), Dr. Ronald Waln (University of Georgia) and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's principal flutist, Christina Smith.

Currently she balances her time composing, teaching students, performing, and as a music engraver. Nicole lives in Doraville with her husband, guitarist and composer Brian Chamberlain. Visit [1] to hear samples of her music.
