Wilhelm Friedrich Fitzenhagen (1848-1890)
Moscow: Muzgiz, 1962, plate 30042.
Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33 (1876) were written for Fitzenhagen, and the dedicatee took it upon himself to make changes to the original score (which was not revived until the 1940s). Until fairly recently, this Fitzenhagen version was the only one known in the west.

Misc. Comments
The work was published in its original form only as part of the complete works issued during the Soviet era. Prior publications were of the bowdlerized edition of Fitzenhagen, who completely ignored the composer's wishes and made what amounts to an abridged arrangement of the original.
