Possibly born in America but spent most of his life in it, having taught at Grinnell and at Carleton (in Northfield, Minnesota) whose faculty he joined in August 1921 (according to St. Paul Pioneer Press, Volume 68, Number 240, 28 August 1921, page 8). Student of Moszkowski, Widor and Middelschulte. (He is probably not the same as Hugo Philler Goodwin - see Familysearch - who seems to have been still at Grinnell in 1930, despite having similar vita information.)
