Article in The Morning Call claims that his birth records give date as 10 March 1905, but that the composer postdated his birthdate to 9 March 1908, the date used on his gravestone (which can be seen @ FindaGrave) and in most sources. Reference slight but present. Became a Canadian citizen in 1944 and at least applied to become an American citizen (perhaps unsuccessfully?) between 1950 and 1963.
