According to Fetis: He was a lawyer by profession, and adviser to the minister of war in Baden. Thus he lived in Karlruhe. He was an enthusiastic amateur musician, and was F.E. Fesca's only student. He organized a club dedicated to Renaissance music. His published compositions number about a dozen, and are mainly songs for solo or chorus.
