Leader of the Beethoven Quartet (Russian: Струнный квартет имени Бетховена, Strunnyĭ kvartet imeni Betkhovena) which operated between 1922 and 1987. The founding members were graduates of the Moscow Conservatory: violinists Dmitry Tsyganov and Vasily Shirinsky (1901—1965), violist Vadim Borisovsky (1900—1972) and cellist Sergey Shirinsky (1903-74) (half brother of violinist Vasily Shirinsky) (1901—1965).
